A seedling tree grown out successfully in a big bag ready to become a tree in the orchard. Not recommended for soil with high content of clay or phytophthora pressure.

SEEDLING ROOTSTOCKS

With superior clonal rootstocks and meticulous grading and sorting, plants supplied to growers are less subject to transplant shock and ensure tree uniformity in growth and production from the date of planting. With minimal losses during transplanting in orchards, orchard uniformity is guaranteed to the benefit of short and long-term production.

The micro-cloning technique was developed by Dr. André Ernst from Allesbeste during the 1980's and commercialised during the 1990's. Allesbeste Nursery is one of only two avocado nurseries globally that have developed its own cloning technique - the so called micro-cloning technique.
Currently its the only technique in our industry that allows for visual inspection of clonal root establishment to ensure quality clonal root development. We are also the leaders in supplying trees cost efficiently globally through our innovative packing and logistics system. A farmer-friendly technique
that reduces transplant shock and tree losses in the field as each tree has been verified for perfect clonal root development. Micro-cloning ensures superior orchard uniformity and consistency for higher yields.

As leaders in the export of micro-clonal avocado trees, micro-clones have been supplied globally from small samples for trial purposes to large orders. Plants are shipped 100 per box in shipments of up to 10,000 plants per shipment.

GENETICS

In-house breeding and selection of new generation rootstocks and cultivars bred for the South African avocado industry. Propagation of all commercial rootstocks in South Africa including Dusa, Bounty, Leola, Zerala. New Allesbeste-bred cultivars are in the first stages of semi-commercial plantings and final testing for commercialization.

Where can I place an order for trees at Allesbeste Nursery?

If I order now, when can I receive my trees

In general a microclone takes about 14 months to produce and a standard clone (grown out microclone in a big bag) takes 20 months on average. However we always have some amount of surplus trees in constant production as a buffer, so we might also be able to deliver trees with reduced or no waiting time. A seedling takes around 12 months to be ready from seed germination to big bag tree.
What is the deposit amount I need to secure my order?

Usually we ask for a 20% of the final tree price when placing the order and the remaining 80% must be paid before delivery. This percentage might vary based on whether it's for the export market or local delivery and is finalized on final quote.
What gives me a better chance of getting a discount when placing an order?

We encourage growers to involve us in their medium to long term planning. This assists us in providing a better product & service and through this improved relationships and better understanding. We are in a position to be more competitive. Being a regular customer, placing orders for 5000 trees and above, paying early deposits for orders in the future, are all examples of scenarios we look into discounting prices.
What do I need to do when receiving microclones before they are ready to be planted out in the field?

When a client receives our microclones, they need to be planted out in big bags to be grown out for around 6 months before being field-ready. We suggest our clients install a 40% shade net and some basic infrastructure to keep the big bags separate from the soil. We do provide our clients with the necessary know-how to manage these microclones successfully and turn them into fully developed healthy trees ready for the orchard.
